Welcome to The Halfnerd Girl!

Who am I? Alice: expert daydreamer, fashion freak, Ravenclaw and severe book nerd. I have a huge interest in photography and travelling the world - also, I drink a lot of lattes. I'm a Nordic who grew up in southern Europe so think of me as a viking with a(n occasional)tan...uhm...also, I'm kind of wierd.

Enjoy and follow if you do!

  Styling embroidery
A couple days ago I put up a post where I showed some pieces that incorporated some form of jewelled embroidery and so I thought it would fun to also show how I would style something from that trend. Embellished clothing is pretty easy to style in my opinion since all you really need are some basic items to either dress the piece up or down. The item is an accessory in itself so you don't have to think too much.
I've chosen to show you outfit ideas featuring a top from Zara (purchased last winter) that has little embellishments all over it and although I'm only showing you two, the possibilities are endless!

This first outfit is of the fancier variety and would work great for a nice dinner or party. I've put on a wrap dress over the top that has some silver threading along the neckline, which ties in nicely with the pearls and sequins on the top. I like how the embellishments peek out a little which gives the pretty plain dress some extra drama. Just add some nice, sleek tights and heels( or ankleboots in my case) and you're good to go! I also put on some dark, vampy lipstick to make this look a little more dramatic & if you're going outside just throw on a leather jacket!
The second outfit is a perfect example of how you can wear something embellished in a more casual, everyday way! I paired the top with some skinny pants (from Zara), black ankleboots and perhaps most importantly a printed cardigan (from COS.) I love the contrast of the pattern and the detail on the top, its a really interesting combination!

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I style this piece and hopefully I'll shed some awareness on another trend in the following week!
