ABOUT

Welcome to The Halfnerd Girl!

Who am I? Alice: expert daydreamer, fashion freak, Ravenclaw and severe book nerd. I have a huge interest in photography and travelling the world - also, I drink a lot of lattes. I'm a Nordic who grew up in southern Europe so think of me as a viking with a(n occasional)tan...uhm...also, I'm kind of wierd.

Enjoy and follow if you do!

  Resumé

Although I literally started my blog yesterday and any reader that I might have will probably not consider that they know me very well yet, I still thought it would be fun to go through 2012 in pictures to look back and reflect over what this year has brought, considering we'll be heading into a new chapter in just a couple days.
The year started off pretty slowly, as far as I can remember. We had lots of snow and cold weather in general, my hair was really dark and from what I could tell from pictures; I spent a lot of time sketching. Hmm...

As spring started to roll around I recall having loads of life-consuming essays and whatnot to write, which definatley was not the highpoint of the season. I also changed my hair colour, with help of a lot of highlights and a couple hours chez le coiffeur, I also remember goofing around with my friends on the beach (?) when the weather got warm enough so that you wished to be outside for lengthier periods of time and that we were planning to take the world by storm - starting by conquering Youtube - which did not really turn out the way we planned...whoops!

One of the highlights of my year was my trip to Paris in May. I was there in both November 2010 and 2011 but going during spring for once was amazing! A close friend of mine and I flew down to visit another one of our friends who was an exchange student there last year and we had four kick-ass days in the magical city that I absolutely adore! I took a boatload of pictures of the blossoming city,  enjoyed meals at our favourite restaurants and took late-night strolls along les boulevards.

Ah! Summer! My favourite time of year. Summer of 2012 brought a heatwave in mid-May and then mediocre weather the rest of the summer months - which was a bit of a bummer, but I had a good time regardless. Before school ended I enjoyed weekend trips to the countryside, barbecues by the beach with friends and pink-tipped hair for a day.

When the summer holidays came along, I spent countless days just chilling and chilling and chilling, de-programming myself from my student self and becoming my free self - whose only purpose was to read a book a day and tan on the front deck! I had a nice job and enough time to to anything I wished - those were the days... My hair went even lighter by the sunlight and I, amongst other things, enjoyed a really good couple days at a friends summerhouse. Oh! and Ice cream of course...can't forget the ice cream!
Summer also brings my birthday which this year brought my Canon to me. So my whilst my Nikon began collecting dust on my shelf, my new baby came with me everywhere - capturing all the bright colours of summer!
August - November went by so incredibly fast that I really can't believe four months just flew by. School started again and I was blessed with a schedule from heaven and just all-round good spirit throughout the darkening of the season. I started my photography class in school and suddenly found myself capable of taking pictures like never before. Furthermore,  I studied, I worked out, I wore red lipstick, I lit candles, I read good books...

At last, these past two months where weeks have felt like hours and hours more like minutes. All of a sudden Christmas was here and although the heap of snow that we were blessed with on December first melted within a week, it was still a time filled with my favourite festivities and anxiousness to find out what hid under the tree, a time that I love! Luckily this lasts a little into the New Year!

2012 has been a very strange year... nothing major has happened per se, but I've had a lot of fun and experienced another dose of new things. I definatley preferred 2012 to 2011. Let's hope 2013 will be even better, which I think it will (more on that later perhaps!), and let's all start by celebrating leaving behind this one, the year of the apocalypse, what a disappointment indeed...

...just kidding.
